It's 1997 and a seven years old boy, Peter, was very happy with his young life at that time.
His father Jack was one of the richest guy in his city. He owned a house and car, had a lot of money but most of all, he displayed to all around him a sense of strength, yes strength.
No one dare said anything to him and his family. He always carried a gun with him.
I think you can maybe guess what his job was? If you said “Thief”, then you’re right, he sure was.
Sunday night, 2:00 a.m.
Jack's friends gathered in his house. Jack's family were awake, even the little boy named Peter, Jack's son. They were worried about their man Jack. When they were ready for some more action, they climbed into their car and went to the factory that they were planning to rob.
3:00 a.m.
They had arrived at the factory, and when they got there turned their headlights on and off three times, which was their signal to the night guard.
The guard, who was their partner in crime, opened the door and showed them where all the high priced merchandise was stored at. Jack and his friends started to move the merchandise to a lorry, which had been staged near the door just for this.
4:30a.m
The guard heard the sound of an engine, which he recognized as belonging to the owner’s car. The guard quickly warned his friends about the owner unexpectedly showing up at this late hour, then told them to hide somewhere. The guard opened the door as he heard the owner approach. “Why did you delay to open the door”? the owner asked the guard. The guard responded “I was trying to find the key”.
The owner went into his office, was there for about half an hour, then left the building, got ready to get into his car and prepared to leave. It was at this moment, taking one last glance at his factory, that he saw another door into the factory was open, and there appeared to be a light coming from inside. Meanwhile, the guard was becoming more nervous by the moment, looking out the door and seeing his boss not leaving. Shaking and sweating, he cursed his luck this night.
The owner looked carefully in the location of the open door, but could not see anything, and thought perhaps the guard had left it open. At that moment, he prepared to leave again but out of nowhere, heard a sound of someone moving in the shadows. He approached the open door and walked towards some of the merchandise and saw one of the thieves trying to hide behind it. He started to call out for the guard, but then he felt a sharp pain on the back of his head and fell to the ground as someone hit him from behind.
Though knocked down, the owner quickly stood up and prepared to face the gang of thieves that faced him. The owner was a martial arts expert, and had been taking karate for many years, so he quickly knocked down three of thieves facing him.
When the thieves saw that they were not going to beat the owner this way, one of them drew a gun and shot the owner in the stomach and he fell to the ground this time. Jack, who had left to fill the gas tank before this all happened, had come back to the front of the factory just as the owner was shot and asked the guard “what was that sound”? “It sounded like gunfire to me” said the guard and Jack felt a heavy weight deep inside him. Eventually the police arrived, and when they did, Jack and his gang of thieves had already left.
Under heavy interrogation, the police made the guard talk. The guard told them everything, leaving nothing out. Soon after this, the police raided all of the thieve's houses and were successful in arresting three of them.
Jack had found a safe place to hide and patiently waited for things to cool down. After three months Jack came back to his house to see his family. He told his wife when and where to visit him. After about half an hour the police officers surrounded Jack’s house but he already had gone. Jack had someone on the inside at the police station, and he had warned Jack that the police were coming.
When Peter's school finished and his mother picked him up, she told him “we have to move now” but at first Peter said “no, I don’t want to leave my friends.” But after his mother told him that this would be his chance to see and be with his father again, Peter agreed and said yes.
They moved to Jack’s mother’s house, which no one knew about and therefore they would be safe. (In my opinion it was because Jack wasn't at the scene, and not responsible for what had happened, so God wanted to give him another chance). In the meantime, the government hung the three thieves they had captured. Two years passed...
- Will Jack be a good man and live his life?
- Will he continue his way and come back to the old position as a thief?
I'll tell you the rest of this story very soon.
