A Fancy View That You Cannot Miss In Saigon

February 23, 2015 Thanh Nguyen Tu

There is a special place where we can enjoy the cool wind from the river and a splendid view of the high buildings nearby.  This special place happens to be the Saigon riverside street near the Thu Thiem tunnel. There are grass fields, trees and flowers decorating the streets. In the early morning, we can hear the tweeting sounds of small birds and the gentle lapping sounds of their wings. When I walked along the street, I sometimes slide my hand along the iron handrail. It is usually cold and dry but sometimes it feels hot and humid. It somehow makes me think of somebody who has sweaty hands when they held the handrail while they walked. Or maybe it feels like the water that flows in the river nearby. The river changes its color as the day progresses. However, the early morning and night time are two of the most appealing times of a day. In the morning, it has a light color mix between pink and orange, promising us a nice day is coming. At night, it is sparkling and mysterious, releasing our minds after a hard day. Modern high buildings and light posts are lit up alluringly. It is like a picture of candles lit up in a dark room. On the other hand, the river smells sickly-sweet because of the garbage disposed in the river. Except for this one negative feature, this street has one of nicest views in Saigon.
