The knights last journey, his poem to share

March 10, 2015 Thanh Nguyen Tu

The journey begins
With the ending in mind,
Of a cold winter evening,
And a moment trapped in time

The image in my mind
And also in my heart
Of a beautiful lady
That’s where I’ll start

A face sculpted from an angel’s hand
Human flesh turned into heavenly art
My eyes drawn to her smile,
And in my soul, she left her mark

From that day forward
I thought of her,
The lady in the photo
So far, yet so near

Then one summer day
She sent message
And from that moment on
My life had changed
For the lady in the photo
A reply to me she made

Over time we probed
And explored
And each passing day
Of each other we learned a little more

We often shared the same thoughts
Feelings and concerns
We talked about our dreams
And of life, what we had learned

We laughed and joked
And often teased
More often than not,
At the sake of me J

Over time
I felt a closeness grow
And with each passing moment
I felt the desire to know

To know what it felt like
To hold this woman in my arms
To remove the distance between us
And be side to side, heart to heart

The moment came
When she said she would come
And my heart felt joy
Knowing soon it would be done

That the moment of waiting
Would come to an end
Anticipation building
Each passing day one day closer
To holding her in my arms

At the airport waiting
A bouquet of flowers in my hand
Representing the beauty
In that airplane that would soon land

The first time I saw her
That is the moment I’ll treasure most,
In all of my future memories,
Nothing will ever come close

The next two weeks passed,
For me, far more quickly that they should,
Spending time together,
For me wanted to hold on each moment, as long as I could

Days spent walking the pier,
And seeing the ocean below
Watching the sunset,
And the evening sky putting on its magic show

Days at the amusement park,
Laughing in the pouring rain
Taking pleasure in each moment
And sharing this time that came

You see,
This time came to both of us
To understand and share,
Leaving us with the opportunity
To move forward if we dare

The times holding hands
And cuddling in each other arms
For me those were so precious
Much more than anything that could be bought

The dinners together,
Trying new things
A glass of red wine with pad thai
Moments that in my mind and heart remains

The taste of your soft lips
Pressed against mine,
Rose petals in their softness,
Intoxicating as wine

The last night together,
When we were so close,
I felt that life could not be better
And in my heart, this is what I know

At the airport,
Saying goodbye,
The tears I held inside of me,
Wanting them to hide

As you turned the corner,
And I could see you no more
I silently cried out “I love you”
And walked through the door

It now has been some time,
Since your body I last held,
But the moments stay with me,
Your taste, your feel and your smell

I think of you often,
Though it seems as things have changed
I am not sure of the reason
But in my heart the feelings are the same

I have always thought of the knight,
So proud and sure,
Of his duties and character,
Honor, courage and the desire to do good

He travels the countryside,
In hope to serve
The cause of righteousness
And in this quest he is sure

I have also thought of the wandering poet,
Expressing his feelings and thoughts,
In the hope that he can share them
Through the times of happiness and sadness that he walks

I end this with the words I first began
Only at the end of the journey,
Do we truly understand?

So it is during that journey
That we must make our life,
And living in fear of failure,
Our dreams will never be realized

It is for the reason,
That this poem I write to you
A woman that touched my heart,
And from that, my feeling that are so true

A woman that lives an ocean apart,
Yet a woman that holds my heart.

I miss you.
