Finally she had achieved her goal. She had tears in her eyes when she received the scholarship in her hands from an international university. She rushed towards her cellphone and wanted to call her parents to inform them of the good news but suddenly she thought "how can I survive in another country?" let's start from the beginning.
She was born in a small town but her dreams were big. Her father was a poor man but he wanted to see her daughter on the sky. In town they didn't have proper schooling system so her father decided to admit her in another school which was far away.
Her father didn't have enough money to give her proper education but he had a wish and a will to see his daughter as a successful person. One day she came to her father and said, “I have a lot of problems in school. All the students laugh at me because I don't have a new uniform and stationary. No one wants to be my friend. I don't want to continue my studies. You can cut my name from the school.”
Her father listened her very carefully, he replied “if you don't want to continue, so okay, I will do whatever you want but tell me only one thing, because of some useless people why do you want to give up on yourself? why do you want to leave your goals? it's as If you are going on your way and a dog’s barking at you so what would you do in this situation? will you respond to him or just ignore him and start walking again? you have to decide your own unique way to achieve your goals, you just have to focus on it. You have to ignore these people, if you want to be a successful person. I know it's not easy but you have to do it not only for yourself but also for us.
She felt a new energy from those inspirational words. She said, “you're right father I won't give up. I won't say this again that I want to stop my studies.” She started up with a new power. The next day she felt was a bright day for her. Days passed and she continued her studies with the same struggle. Whenever she felt tired and wanted to give up, she just remembered her father’s words.
Now she was in college. She had more tough competition and she faced different problems. She felt she needed more moral support by her parents. They used to say, ‘we are with you in every stage of your life.’
In her college she met some new students who wanted to make fun of her because she was a brilliant student, One guy who was rich and most famous in the college because of his strong family background was so envious of her. He wanted to see her put down and degraded but he never had a chance as she was superb in each and every skill.
One day a professor arranged a competition. He announced that the winner of this competition would get a chance for a scholarship. She thought "if I win this competition I can more easily complete my further studies", and for this reason she started to do sedulous. She had a tough competition coming up as the rich guy was someone she would be competing against.
That guy didn't want her to win so that's why he started to spread ugly rumors about her, thinking that by these rumors she’d get tense and stressed out, and wouldn't be able to concentrate. But what he did not know, was that in times like this she always remembered her father’s guideline and encouragement, so that kept her going forward. On the day of competition, she was ready to participate but there was one question running in her mind, “will bribery happen in this case?”
Before starting she went to professor and told him all those problems which she had had with the rich guy. The professor told her, “we will talk later, I am in hurry right now as the judges are waiting for me. Let me inform you one of one thing, all the judges are foreigners so there is no chance for bribery, so go and focus on your upcoming success.
Finally the time came when the results were being announced. Her fingers were crossed and she was a little nervous.. and so was the boy.
And BOOM! the party popper blasted.. and the name was, “Kartik”
She was surprised and asked herself "how could that boy win", knowing that she prepared a lot comparatively to that boy. She had tears in her eyes and she lost her hope. There was no ray of sunshine anymore in her life. She felt a darkness coming all over herself… She wanted to know the reason behind this. She was damn sure that something wrong had happened.
Actually the reason behind this was, that she underestimated that boy and she thought that he could nothing, that she was more superior. That boy came upon the stage and had a million dollar smile on his face. Everybody including the professor were shocked, suddenly he, the boy, saw the deepness in her eyes that forced him to come to her aid and support her. He went towards the microphone and announced her name and said, ”I really feel sorry for everything I did.. I just wanted to win this competition so that she would feel low as a loser but now I have realized that she needs this scholarship more than me. so here it is, I am submitting this scholarship to her as a gift a sorry. I really apologize to you for what I have done and request you to accept this.
The girl first wanted to have this gift knowing how much it would help her, but then she thought, "it was an award based on his hard work, he deserved it and I can not take his credit." But then the boy told her that, “I insulted you at every opportunity I could get, because I thought that the students liked you more. please do not consider it as my credit.. it's all yours.”
Finally they agreed on a condition, that when the girl had have enough money, she'll return all the expenses of going abroad to him. Everyone was quite happy but then she thought about her future, that how would she survive without her parents… but for her studies and to achieve her dreams, she had to. She had to sacrifice everything, even her happiness.
